Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients and cook menu items according to established recipes and standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workspace to ensure food safety and efficiency
- Assist in menu planning by providing input on ingredient availability and preparation techniques
- Handle food with care, adhering to proper food handling procedures to prevent contamination
- Support catering events and special functions with timely meal preparation and service
- Operate kitchen equipment safely, including knives, ovens, stoves, and other appliances
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations during busy hours
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or as a dietary aide in a restaurant or healthcare setting
- Strong knife skills and proficiency in meal preparation techniques
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices for handling perishable items
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Familiarity with menu planning, food industry standards, and catering services
- Excellent communication skills for serving guests and coordinating with team members
- Previous dietary department or dietary aide experience is a plus but not required
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must have Food Handlers card at time of hire
- Must be able to pass a background check
