We specialize in wheelchair, ambulatory, and gurney transport services throughout California, ensuring every passenger receives the highest level of care and professionalism.
Position Summary
We are seeking dependable and professional Wheelchair and Gurney Drivers to join our growing NEMT team. Drivers will safely transport clients to and from hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and other healthcare facilities while providing courteous and attentive service.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate wheelchair-accessible and gurney-equipped vehicles in compliance with California traffic laws and company policies.
- Assist passengers with boarding, securing wheelchairs, stretchers, or gurneys using proper tie-down systems.
- Provide door-to-door and/or bedside-to-bedside assistance as needed.
- Ensure passengers’ comfort and safety throughout each trip, maintaining a professional and compassionate attitude.
- Maintain accurate trip logs, mileage reports, and other required documentation.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections; promptly report any maintenance or safety concerns.
- Keep vehicles clean, sanitized, and stocked with all necessary equipment and supplies.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, clients, caregivers, and facility staff.
- Handle emergencies calmly and in accordance with company and safety protocols.
- Protect client confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and company standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum age: 23 years old.
- Valid California Driver’s License with a clean driving record (no major violations in the last 3 years).
- CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- Defensive driving and Passenger Assistance Safety and Sensitivity (PASS) certification preferred.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs (to assist with wheelchairs, gurneys, or related equipment).
- Must pass a background check, drug screening, physical exam, and alcohol breath test.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Dependable, punctual, and professional in appearance and attitude.
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience in NEMT, healthcare transportation, or patient care.
- Experience with wheelchair and gurney transport, securing, and handling procedures.
Schedule & Pay
- Full-time and part-time shifts available.
- Flexible scheduling may include weekdays, weekends, and evenings.
