Summary/Objective:
Fine Dining Restaurant and Mercato Experience a must. The Mercato Sales Specialist/Barista, plays a dual role in creating an exceptional café experience and assisting customers in our Mercato market, located inside the restaurant. Mercato market sells imported food items from Italy. This unique position involves crafting quality coffee beverages, promoting Italian culture, and showcasing a variety of curated Italian goods such as fresh pastries made daily, bread, pasta, and a variety of sauces, cheeses and more!
Qualifications:
- Fluent in English.
- 21 years of age or older.
- At least 1 year of experience in the food, beverage, or hospitality industry.
- At least 1 year of Barista experience
- At least 1 year of Mercato sales experience
- High school diploma required; college education preferred.
- Availability to work at least a minimum of 30 hours per week, including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Enthusiasm for Italian cuisine, imported gifts and food items from Italy. Enjoy the Italian culture
Essential Functions:
- Warmly greet and welcome guests as they enter the restaurant, ensuring a friendly first impression with the Mercato conveniently located at the entrance.
- Craft and serve specialty coffee beverages, including espressos, lattes, and cappuccinos.
- Educate customers about the Italian goods available in the Mercato, including pasta, cheeses, sauces and more.
- Selling techniques and knowledge of the products from Italy.
- Assist customers in selecting products, answering questions about their uses, and sharing preparation tips.
- Maintain a clean and organized display to ensure an inviting shopping experience.
- Restock shelves and monitor inventory levels to keep the Mercato well-stocked.
- Operate the register efficiently for both coffee and Mercato goods purchases.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of the café equipment and Mercato area.
- Maintain FIFO method regularly/daily.
- Stay updated on new products and promotions in both the café and Mercato.· Current food handler's card or certification, or willingness to obtain one upon hire

Work Environment:
This position takes place in a vibrant upscale restaurant environment, with the Mercato serving as the focal point upon entry. Team members will work in a dynamic café located within our elegant restaurant.
Physical Demands:
The role requires frequent standing, bending, and occasional lifting of items up to 30 pounds. Employees must engage with customers while remaining active in a dynamic environment.
Expected Hours of Work:
This position regularly requires evening, weekend, and holiday shifts to meet customer demand.
