- Able to work for the entire DOE school year 26-27 (Aug-June)
- Able to work Mondays 1-6pm, Tuesday- Friday, 2pm to 6pm
- Work camp during Dept of Education closed/half-day holidays as need
- Monitor 12-15 children during activities to ensure their health, safety and physical well-being; perform or direct child to certified First Aid and CPR personnel; perform first aid in emergency situations according to established procedures; enforce and ensure health and safety rules and procedures are observed
- Monitor individuals or small groups of students assigned in after school program; assure student understanding of program rules and procedures; maintain appropriate order and student conduct
- Able to engage students in planned lessons, assist teachers and assist vendors/contractors in enrichment classes, help to set up and clean up
- Interact with children in an effort to build self-esteem and form a comfort level with their peers; answer student questions, provide proper examples, emotional support, a friendly attitude, and general guidance
- Assist with homework and small projects
- Assist in maintaining program standards of student behavior needed to achieve effective participation in activities without interfering with the natural, informal atmosphere of the After School Program; assist in resolving student disputes; refer serious discipline problems to program managers
- Act as a liaison between parents and school personnel, keep flow of communication to the Leadership Team
- Carry a variety of afterschool program supplies and equipment including athletic equipment, arts and crafts equipment, and office equipment as assigned
- Participate in regular staff meetings and assist with in-service training as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Leadership team to support the overall objectives of the program
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Methods and practices of child enrichment.
- Child behavior and learning patterns.
- Methods and practices of leadership and guidance.
- Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
- Basic arithmetic: addition, subtraction, division, multiplication.
- Diverse cultural communities and backgrounds.
Preferred:
· Experience with youth in school setting, camp, afterschool, daycare, etc.
· Specialized skill in dance, art, sports, STEM, enrichment for kids
