We are seeking a skilled and customer-focused Industrial Packaging Service Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial packaging equipment for customers throughout the Hopewell, VA region. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, working independently, and traveling to customer locations.
What You’ll Do
Equipment Maintenance & Repair
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair industrial packaging equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance and reliability.
- Replace or repair mechanical, electrical, and control system components.
- Conduct equipment inspections and identify potential issues before failures occur.
Technical Support
- Respond promptly to customer service requests both onsite and remotely.
- Provide technical guidance and recommendations to customers and team members.
- Support equipment installations, startups, and operational testing.
Documentation & Reporting
- Complete service reports, maintenance records, and repair documentation accurately and timely.
- Track parts usage and communicate recurring equipment issues.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance equipment performance and customer satisfaction.
Customer Service
- Build positive relationships with customers through professional communication and service.
- Explain repair procedures, maintenance recommendations, and equipment operation.
- Train customers on proper equipment use and preventative maintenance practices.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all company safety policies and industry regulations.
- Ensure work is completed in compliance with manufacturer specifications and customer requirements.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with fellow technicians, engineering teams, and operations staff to resolve complex issues.
- Assist with mentoring and training newer technicians when needed.
QualificationsRequired
- High School Diploma or GED (Technical Certification or Associate Degree preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing equipment maintenance, repair, or a related technical field.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively (70-80%).
Preferred
- Experience working with industrial packaging equipment.
- Knowledge of PLCs, relays, sensors, motors, and mechanical systems.
- Electrical or industrial maintenance certifications.
- Previous field service technician experience.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry 35+ pounds regularly.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in manufacturing environments, confined spaces, elevated areas, and varying weather conditions when required.
