Authentic Connections Counseling LLC is a holistic, neurodivergent-affirming group practice based in Ashburn, Virginia. We specialize in supporting children, teens, and adults who may be navigating ADHD, Autism, anxiety, OCD, trauma, emotional regulation, executive functioning challenges, relationship concerns, and life transitions.
We’re growing and looking for a Resident in Counseling or fully licensed therapist (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, etc.) who is the right clinical and cultural fit for our practice.
We aren't looking for just any therapist to fill a caseload. We're looking for someone who genuinely connects with the way we work: relational, authentic, individualized, strengths-based, and neurodivergent-affirming. Our therapists value understanding what is underneath a client's struggles rather than simply focusing on symptoms or behaviors.
This position is a great fit for a clinician who enjoys working with children and/or teens, and adults and has experience or a strong interest in working with neurodivergent clients.
What We're Looking For
Our ideal clinician:
- Has experience, training, or a strong clinical interest in ADHD, Autism, OCD, anxiety, trauma, and/or related concerns
- Practices from a neurodivergent-affirming, strengths-based, and trauma-informed perspective
- Is interested in understanding the nervous system and the role it plays in anxiety, trauma, emotional regulation, shutdown, overwhelm, and behavior
- Is familiar with or interested in learning nervous system-informed, somatic, or other integrative approaches
- Understands that effective therapy isn't one-size-fits-all and is comfortable adapting interventions to the individual client
- Is skilled at developing strong therapeutic relationships, particularly with children and teens who may be guarded, anxious, resistant, or unsure about therapy
- Values authenticity, curiosity, flexibility, collaboration, and continued personal and professional growth
- Is comfortable working independently while also being part of a collaborative and supportive team
- Is committed to creating a space where clients feel understood, respected, and accepted as they are
Responsibilities
- Provide individual psychotherapy to clients within your areas of competence and clinical interest
- Conduct comprehensive intake assessments and develop individualized treatment plans based on each client's needs and goals
- Utilize evidence-based and evidence-informed interventions while adapting treatment to the individual client
- Build strong, collaborative therapeutic relationships with clients and, when appropriate, their families
- Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation in accordance with ethical, legal, and practice requirements
- Collaborate with parents, schools, physicians, psychiatrists, and other professionals when clinically appropriate and with proper authorization
- Participate in consultation, supervision, and ongoing professional development
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and uphold all ethical and legal requirements of the profession
- Contribute to the collaborative, supportive culture of Authentic Connections Counseling
Qualifications
- Current Virginia Resident in Counseling or independently licensed mental health clinician (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, etc.)
- Experience working with children, adolescents, and/or adults in an outpatient mental health setting preferred
- Experience, training, or a strong clinical interest in neurodivergence, anxiety, OCD, trauma, or related areas
- Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and ability to work independently
- Commitment to neurodivergent-affirming, trauma-informed, and individualized care
- Desire to continue developing clinical skills through training, consultation, and supervision
