Wilshire Academy is a learning institution dedicated to empowering students to think critically and creatively in both academic and extracurricular activities. By offering tailored support in core subjects and providing innovative opportunities to develop pre-professional skillsets, we strive to connect students with exceptional instructors through small class sizes and discussion-based courses.
We are looking for part-time teachers who can commit to anywhere from 5-15 hours per week for in-person classes. Our office is located in Hancock Park in Los Angeles. We offer competitive pay, ranging from $25-$30/hr, commensurate with experience.
As a Spanish teacher, you will be expected to:
- Teach students various topics in grammar, analysis, critical reading, and advanced writing skills of Spanish in both group and one-on-one settings. While students’ grade levels and courses may vary, these are the core standards that teachers will focus on for every class.
- Communicate and coordinate with the administrators in curriculum organization, progress reports, and other necessary tasks. We want bright and positive teachers to be part of our growing team.
- Be punctual and prepared for all classes. We uphold responsibility and professionalism, and expect you’d as well.
- Be creative to tailor the set curriculum to the students’ needs & be patient and understanding to heed the students’ and administrators’ feedback. Conversely, we encourage you to voice any concerns and questions to the admin, whether that be improving the current curriculum or opening new courses.
- Be prepared to lead a wide range of courses, ranging from elementary book club to high school test prep. We offer diverse courses for various grade levels that advise students’ reading and writing skills. While we will work with you to find courses that best fit your strengths, we’d definitely like to have curious multitaskers who are open and flexible to variety.
Job Qualifications
While some teaching experience is preferred, we welcome all applicants who have the passion, drive, and empathy to learn and grow regardless of prior experience.
The applicants must have love for education, literature and critical thinking. We expect all applicants to maintain the highest degree of professionalism, respect, and integrity at the workplace towards all members of the Wilshire Academy.
Though we may host some virtual sessions, the applicants must be able to commute to our office near Hancock Park in Los Angeles. The applicants must be excellent writers, readers, and critical thinkers, and must be able to teach those same assets to our students. As we firmly believe that dedicated, committed instructors are crucial to our students’ education, we require applicants to be able to teach for a minimum of 6 months, with the potential to extend that time frame upon mutual agreement.
