Responsibilities
- Operate a wide range of radiologic imaging equipment including X-ray, fluoroscopy, CT (Computed Tomography), PET (Positron Emission Tomography), mammography, DEXA scans, and nuclear medicine procedures.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations and interventional radiology procedures such as biopsies, drainages, and vascular interventions with strict adherence to aseptic techniques and radiation safety protocols.
- Assist in emergency room settings and Level I or Level II trauma centers by providing rapid imaging support for urgent cases requiring immediate diagnosis.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort through effective communication, proper positioning, and adherence to radiation safety procedures.
- Maintain detailed documentation of procedures, patient information, and equipment operation logs to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including radiologists, physicians, nurses, and technologists to deliver accurate diagnostic results promptly.
- Stay current with advancements in medical imaging technology and techniques to continuously improve service quality.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in urgent care settings, emergency rooms, or trauma centers with a focus on diagnostic radiology or interventional radiology.
- Proficiency in operating diverse radiologic imaging equipment such as X-ray machines, fluoroscopy units, CT scanners, mammography units, DEXA scanners, and nuclear medicine cameras.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and radiation safety procedures essential for patient care and diagnostic accuracy.
- Experience performing interventional radiography procedures including PET scans and other minimally invasive interventions.
- Ability to implement radiation safety protocols diligently to protect patients and staff during all imaging procedures.
- Familiarity with medical equipment operation and diagnostic evaluation techniques across multiple modalities.
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively in high-pressure environments.
- Certification or licensure as required by state law for radiologic technologists; additional certifications in mammography or nuclear medicine are a plus.
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques necessary for interventional procedures; experience working within Level I or Level II trauma centers is highly desirable.
