The Technical Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the technical execution of coating application processes, ensuring quality, efficiency, and compliance with customer and industry requirements. This role serves as a technical authority within the facility, with a critical focus on interpreting CAD drawings, translating customer specifications into production-ready processes, and supporting cross-functional teams through training and technical guidance.
Shift: 5 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Monday-Friday with overtime as business needs arise
Responsibilities:

Technical and Process Oversight
- Interpret and analyze CAD drawings, blueprints, and customer specifications to determine coating requirements, tolerances, and processing methods

Translate CAD and engineering data into clear work instructions and process documentation for production teams

Serve as a technical resource for coating processes, preparation, masking, and application methods

Support new product introductions, process changes, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Supervisory and Leadership Duties

Supervise and provide technical guidance to coating technicians and operators

Support cross-training efforts to ensure operational coverage and continuity

Assist with troubleshooting process issues, nonconformances, and customer concerns

Report jobs not meeting production rates to the Plant Manager

Promptly address performance and conduct issues in accordance with company policies

Maintain well-organized, safe, and productive work areas

Partner with Quality, Engineering, and Operations to ensure consistent execution of processes

Run a department or fill in for another supervisor as needed
- Quality and Compliance

Ensure compliance with customer specifications, internal procedures, and applicable industry standards (e.g., NADCAP, ISO, AS9100, customer-specific requirements).

Participate in audits, root cause analysis, and corrective action activities.

Review and approve technical documentation, travelers, and work instructions as required.

Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce scrap/rework, and enhance process capability.

Support validation of new equipment, tooling, or coating processes.

Provide technical input for capital equipment or process upgrades.

Qualifications:

Proven ability to read and interpret CAD drawings (required)

Bachelor’s degree required; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

5+ years of experience in a coating’s application, manufacturing, or industrial processing environment

Prior experience in a technical lead, supervisory, or senior technician role

Strong understanding of coating processes, surface preparation, and application techniques

Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and tolerances

Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills

Experience working in a regulated or quality-driven environment preferred

Proven managerial experience with strong team building, decision-making, and people management skills

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in aerospace, defense, medical, or other highly regulated industries

Familiarity with NADCAP or similar accreditation requirements

Experience with process documentation, work instructions, and technical training

CAD software exposure (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar) strongly preferred
Physical and Work Requirements

Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including exposure to coatings, chemicals, and PPE requirements

Ability to stand, walk, and inspect parts on the production floor as needed
