Families First in Southern Vermont is a non-profit organization committed to building meaningful lives for youth and adults living with developmental disabilities. Families First is seeking a part-time and/or Full-time Specialized direct support professional in the Brattleboro / Windham County area. Experience working with people living with disabilities is required.
The advocates in need of support have more complex medical and/or behavioral needs. Staff are required to be comfortable supporting the individual with activities of daily living: maintaining good hygiene, bathing, wiping, and medication administration. Some self-advocates may be non-verbal and prefer confident staff that can redirect and de-escalate a situation.
Current openings are primarily during the week.
Responsibilities
- Assist with personal care tasks, including bathing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment, ensuring compliance with health standards.
- Drive the individual to appointments, peer groups, and community activities, promoting independence and social engagement.
The ideal candidate for this position will be dependable, compassionate, and patient. Reliable transportation and a valid Driver's License are required, as you may be traveling throughout Windham County. Candidates must be able to pass background checks.
