Essential Job Functions:
- Prepares patients for radiologic procedures by providing verbal and written instructions and assists patients in positioning body parts to be radiographed.
- Determines length and intensity for radiation exposure by adjusting equipment on individual patient basis.
- Follows prescribed safety standards in operating radiological equipment. Uses a variety of radiation protection and shielding materials.
- Examines radiological images for properties such as density and contrast, definition, magnification, and distortion.
- Maintains x-ray rooms; stocks necessary medical and radiological supplies.
- Cleans and makes minor adjustments to radiological equipment.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and follows HIPAA Guidelines.
- Monitors all imaging storage in PACS system and permanent storage.
- Facilitates all clerical duties and record administration regarding x-ray imaging and reports.
Education:
- High school diploma.
- Has completed 1 year of a qualified radiography program and is good standing.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
ENVIRONMENTAL/PHYSICAL/WORKING CONDITIONS: Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination; standing and walking for extensive periods; occasionally lifting and carrying items weighing up to 100 pounds; corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment. Interaction with others is constant and interrupted.
