Candlewood Suites is seeking a dependable, motivated, and hands-on Assistant Hotel Manager / Assistant General Manager to help oversee the daily operations of our extended-stay hotel.
We are looking for someone who takes ownership, leads by example, and understands that great hotel management means being willing to step in wherever needed. The ideal candidate will have strong guest-service skills, good judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to lead and hold a team accountable.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the General Manager with overall daily hotel operations
- Oversee Front Desk, Housekeeping, Maintenance, and general property operations
- Supervise, train, coach, and support hotel employees
- Ensure excellent guest service and professionally resolve guest concerns
- Monitor room cleanliness, property condition, and overall presentation
- Ensure compliance with Candlewood Suites/IHG brand standards and hotel policies
- Assist with employee scheduling and maintaining proper staffing levels
- Monitor reservations, occupancy, rates, and extended-stay guests
- Help control labor, supplies, and other operating expenses
- Assist with inventory, ordering, invoices, and operational paperwork
- Perform regular property and room inspections
- Follow up on maintenance issues and ensure repairs are completed promptly
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for guests and employees
- Step into operational roles when necessary, including assisting the Front Desk during busy periods or staffing shortages
- Act as Manager on Duty and oversee the hotel when the General Manager is unavailable
Qualifications
- Previous hotel experience strongly preferred
- Previous supervisory or management experience preferred
- IHG/Candlewood Suites experience is a plus
- Experience with hotel property-management systems is a plus
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Excellent customer-service and problem-solving abilities
- Dependable, organized, and able to multitask
- Comfortable holding employees accountable while maintaining a positive work environment
- Basic computer and Microsoft Office skills
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require
What We're Looking For
We want someone who takes pride in the property and treats the hotel like their own. This is not strictly an office position. The Assistant Hotel Manager should be visible throughout the hotel, communicate with guests and employees, identify problems before they become larger issues, and work closely with the General Manager to keep the property running smoothly.
