Build a Career in Commercial HVAC
Every commercial building depends on properly balanced HVAC systems. As a Commercial HVAC Test & Balance (TAB) Technician, you'll test, adjust, balance, and survey HVAC systems in restaurants, retail locations, commercial buildings, and construction projects nationwide. No previous TAB experience is required—we provide paid training and a path toward NEBB certification.

What You'll Actually Do (Key Responsibilities)
This is the full job — no surprises on day one:
- Test, adjust, and balance commercial HVAC systems
- Perform HVAC equipment surveys and document field conditions
- Measure airflow, temperature, humidity, and system performance using specialized instruments
- Show up sharp and on time
- Communicate effectively with other trades on site: controls, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and more
- Maintain professional job-site etiquette and follow OSHA safety guidelines
- Review job specifications, scope of work, submittals, blueprints, and safety requirements
- Travel nationwide; may involve 2-3 weeks on the road followed by 1 week off, depending on project requirements
- Take proper care of company-provided tools, vehicles, and test instruments
- Report test data with complete accuracy — your numbers are the product
- Own your training — complete all requirements on the path to becoming a NEBB Certified Technician
What It Takes (Qualifications)
- 21 years or older with a high school diploma or GED
- Excellent driving record — you'll be trusted with a company vehicle
- Able to pass a background check and drug screen
- A strong desire to learn and grow your career in the HVAC industry
- Ability to travel nationwide for weeks at a time
- Electrical, HVAC, or Refrigeration experience preferred but not required
- Good mechanical and mathematical aptitude
- Self-motivated with a desire to grow — strong work ethic, high self-accountability, and integrity
- Excellent time management, critical thinking, and organization skills
- Works well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Command of the English language, both written and verbal
- OSHA 10 – Construction Safety & Health online certificate before starting employment

The Physical Side (Physical Requirements)
This is a real field job — active, hands-on, and on the move. You should be able to:
- Lift approximately 20 lbs regularly, with a maximum unassisted lift of 50 lbs
- Safely work from heights on step ladders, extension ladders, and ladders of various heights up to 40 feet
- Walk comfortably on or near active construction sites — the typical technician logs about 6,000 steps a day (your smartwatch will love this job)
- Use both hands and feet fully, with full vision and hearing
- Wear PPE throughout the workday: hard hat, safety vest, eye protection, steel-toed work boots, and company uniform
- Safely drive a commercial vehicle
