The Program Director – Integrated is responsible for the overall clinical, administrative, and operational leadership of assigned bedded substance use disorder (SUD) programs. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, person-centered, trauma-informed services within an integrated behavioral health model that supports coordination across substance use treatment, mental health, medical, outpatient, and recovery support services.
The Program Director provides leadership to interdisciplinary teams serving individuals with substance use disorders, including clients with co-occurring mental health conditions. This position is responsible for ensuring safe, effective, and compliant program operations while promoting continuity of care and positive client outcomes. The Program Director oversees admissions, assessments, treatment planning, service delivery, discharge planning, quality improvement initiatives, and program performance in accordance with OASAS regulations, agency policies, contractual obligations, and applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the day-to-day operations of bedded SUD treatment programs
- Supporting integrated care coordination with clinical, medical, mental health, and recovery support teams
- Supervising, training, coaching, and evaluating program staff and supervisory personnel
- Monitoring program quality, client engagement, documentation, and regulatory compliance
- Ensuring accurate EMR documentation, incident reporting, and required data submissions
- Managing staffing, scheduling, budgets, and operational resources to support effective service delivery
- Maintaining program readiness for audits, inspections, and licensing reviews
- Participating in program planning, development, and continuous quality improvement efforts
- Building collaborative relationships with referral sources, healthcare providers, community partners, and Managed Care Organizations (MCOs)
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, along with experience managing interdisciplinary teams within residential or bedded behavioral health settings. A strong understanding of trauma-informed care, co-occurring disorders, recovery-oriented treatment, and integrated service delivery is essential.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing, or related human services field (Master’s preferred)
- Minimum of five (5) years of full-time experience in SUD or related treatment settings, including supervisory experience
- Must meet OASAS Qualified Health Care Professional (QHP) requirements
- Experience with behavioral health program operations, compliance, and quality management preferred
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
