Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Assistant Montessori/Preschool afternoon Teacher to support the development and well-being of young learners. This dynamic role offers afternoon hours from 2:30/3 PM to 6 PM, with opportunities to serve as a substitute as well.
In this position, you will help create a nurturing, engaging, and educational environment that fosters curiosity, independence, and essential skills during children’s critical early years. Your enthusiasm and commitment will play a vital role in inspiring young minds and supporting their growth.
Responsibilities
- Assist lead teachers in implementing Montessori-based curriculum and preschool lesson plans that promote child-centered learning.
- Support classroom activities that develop literacy, math, social-emotional skills, and physical coordination aligned with early childhood education standards.
- Engage children in age-appropriate play, activities, and routines that encourage exploration and independence.
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment that adheres to health and safety regulations.
- Communicate effectively with parents about daily activities, progress, and any concerns related to child welfare or development.
- Support behavior management strategies that foster positive social interactions and emotional regulation among children.
- Participate in ongoing professional development related to curriculum development, special education, early intervention, and Montessori methods.
Skills
- Experience working with children in a preschool or Montessori setting with a strong understanding of childhood development principles.
- Knowledge of Montessori educational philosophy and classroom management techniques.
- Familiarity with curriculum development, lesson planning, and standardized testing relevant to early childhood education.
- Ability to communicate clearly with children, parents, and team members while demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of special education needs, early intervention strategies, and behavior management practices.
- Certification in first aid and CPR is preferred; willingness to obtain if not already certified.
- Strong organizational skills to support classroom routines, documentation, and compliance with mandated reporting laws.
