As a SafetySecurity Coordinator, you’ll help make a difference by protecting a calm, respectful campus where neighbors in need can access services with dignity. This entry-level, full-time onsite role exists to prevent incidents through presence, awareness, and trauma-informed engagement—not enforcement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintain visible campus coverage and monitor for emerging risks
- Use de-escalation and clear communication to resolve conflict early
- Support staff during challenging interactions and safety concerns
- Document incidents accurately and promptly; follow reporting protocols
- Respond to emergencies and coordinate appropriate next steps
Required qualifications/skills:
- High school diploma or GED
- Strong verbal communication, sound judgment, and professionalism under stress
- Ability to compassionately serve diverse guests, including those with mental health/substance use challenges
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods; respond quickly and lift up to 50 lbs as needed
- Flexible availability (weekdays, some holidays, and weekends as needed)
Apply to contribute to our mission through steady, people-centered safety.
You start by walking the campus, greeting familiar faces, and checking in with staff about any overnight concerns. Throughout the day, you stay present in common areas, noticing small shifts in mood or crowding and stepping in early with calm conversation. When tensions rise, you slow things down—listening, setting clear boundaries, and helping people re-center. Between interactions, you complete brief reports, communicate patterns you’re seeing, and reset spaces so they remain orderly and inviting. Some days include holiday coverage or weekend hours, and you adapt your rhythm to what the community needs so the environment stays safe and dignified.
