Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and committed Coach / Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be an experienced educator with a love for teaching history and lower level science. Additionally, a strong desire to mentor students both in the classroom and on the court. As a Coach, the individual will oversee boys basketball athletics, helping students grow in their faith, teamwork, and athletic skills. As a History /ScienceTeacher, they will inspire students with a deep understanding of historical events and science concepts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Basketball Coach Responsibilities:
- Lead and assist in managing the basketball athletic program, including practices, games, and tournaments.
- Develop and implement training programs that emphasize teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship within a Christian framework.
- Foster a Christ-centered approach to coaching, modeling biblical values in every interaction with athletes.
- Assist with managing team schedules, game preparations, and team-building activities with our Athletic Director
- Collaborate with school administration to ensure the program aligns with the school’s mission and values.
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and other staff members.
- Teacher Responsibilities:
- Teach 9-12 history classes creating lesson plans that engage students in critical thinking, scientific concepts and historical analysis.
- Incorporate Christian perspectives into lessons, connecting historical and scientific events to biblical principles where appropriate.
- Foster a classroom environment that encourages respectful dialogue, curiosity, and academic excellence.
- Assess and evaluate students’ academic progress, providing feedback to help them succeed.
- Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development activities.
Qualifications:
- A deep commitment to the Christian faith and a desire to integrate biblical principles into teaching and coaching.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, or a related field.
- Coaching experience at the high school level, with knowledge of volleyball and basketball.
- A teaching certification (or willingness to obtain one) and experience teaching science and history.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to inspire and mentor students both in and outside the classroom.
