Job Title: 401(k) Administrator
Location: Fountain Valley, CA (100% Onsite)
Employment Type: Temporary (2-3 months covering LOA)
Compensation: $35-$38/hour
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced 401(k) Administrator to manage the day-to-day administration of our retirement plan and serve as the primary liaison between HR, Payroll, Fidelity, auditors, and external advisors.
This role will be responsible for 401(k) operations, payroll integration, participant transactions, compliance activities, Form 5500 coordination, audit support, and ongoing plan administration. The ideal candidate has strong retirement plan experience, exceptional attention to detail, and a solid understanding of ERISA and retirement plan compliance.
Responsibilities
401(k) Plan Administration

Manage day-to-day administration of the company's 401(k) plan.

Process enrollments, eligibility updates, terminations, beneficiary changes, and employee record maintenance.

Administer participant loans, hardship withdrawals, rollovers, and distributions.

Serve as the primary point of contact for employees and plan vendors regarding retirement plan matters.
Payroll Integration & Reconciliation

Manage bi-weekly data feeds to Fidelity, including new hires, terminations, and leave of absence updates.

Reconcile payroll deductions and retirement plan contributions.

Ensure timely and accurate contribution remittances.

Monitor and maintain ADP-to-Fidelity integration accuracy.

Research and resolve discrepancies between payroll and retirement plan records.
Compliance & Reporting

Coordinate the annual Form 5500 process.

Validate payroll, census, and contribution data.

Partner with Fidelity, auditors, advisors, and third-party administrators on required filings.

Review Form 5500 filings and supporting schedules for accuracy.

Maintain retirement plan documentation and compliance records.

Support annual audits and compliance testing activities.

Ensure compliance with ERISA, fiduciary, and regulatory requirements.
Committee & Vendor Coordination

Coordinate 401(k) committee meetings and maintain meeting documentation.

Prepare materials, agendas, and follow-up action items.

Manage relationships with Fidelity and other retirement plan vendors.

Assist with employee communications and educational materials related to the 401(k) plan.
Qualifications
Required
-
5+ years administering 401(k) or retirement plans
-
Experience working with Fidelity or another retirement plan recordkeeper

Form 5500 coordination experience

Payroll reconciliation and contribution processing experience

Knowledge of ERISA and retirement plan compliance requirements
Preferred

ADP Workforce Now experience

Experience supporting annual compliance testing and retirement plan audits

CEBS, QKA, or related benefits certification
