Assistant General Manager Aloft Hotels by Marriott
Position Summary

The Assistant General Manager serves as the General Manager's right hand, overseeing daily hotel operations, driving financial performance, ensuring brand compliance, and creating a culture where associates and guests feel valued. This role requires a leader who leads by example, embraces Marriott's service culture, and is committed to operational excellence.
Primary Responsibilities
Operations Leadership
- Assist the General Manager with the overall operation of the hotel.
- Lead daily operations across Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Engineering, and other operating departments.
- Ensure exceptional guest satisfaction by proactively resolving service concerns.
- Maintain Marriott Brand Standards and ensure successful QA inspections.
- Conduct daily stand-up meetings and operational briefings.
- Serve as Manager-on-Duty as scheduled.
Guest Experience
- Foster a guest-first culture throughout the hotel.
- Respond to guest feedback and online reviews professionally and promptly.
- Empower associates to recover service opportunities quickly and effectively.
- Promote the unique Aloft lifestyle experience through energetic and engaging service.
Financial Performance
- Assist in achieving revenue, profit, and GOP targets.
- Monitor labor costs, payroll, scheduling, and productivity.
- Control expenses while maintaining service standards.
- Review daily financial reports, STR reports, forecasts, and departmental performance.
- Support budgeting and forecasting initiatives.
Team Leadership
- Recruit, train, coach, and develop associates.
- Conduct performance evaluations and ongoing coaching.
- Promote Marriott's culture of respect, diversity, and inclusion.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and employment practices.
- Foster employee engagement and recognition programs.
Sales & Revenue Support
- Partner with Sales and Revenue Management to maximize occupancy and ADR.
- Support local sales initiatives and community engagement.
- Assist with group arrivals and special events.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Marriott policies, local regulations, OSHA standards, and health requirements.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for guests and associates.
- Support emergency response procedures and risk management initiatives.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 4 years of hotel management experience.
- At least 2 years in a leadership role supervising multiple departments.
- Strong knowledge of hotel operations including Front Office, Housekeeping, and Food & Beverage.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred
- Marriott brand experience.
- Experience with FOSSE, MGS, GXP, LightSpeed PMS, SPOG or similar hotel management systems.
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- Food & Beverage operational experience.
- Revenue management and budgeting experience.
