We are looking for a PA Certified Special Education Teacher to cover a long term substitute assignment in the Great Valley School District. This position will be a Learning Support position in Sugartown Elementary School. This role will begin on August 24th and end November 9th. We are seeking a passionate and energetic Special Education Teacher to join our team. Responsibilities
- Develop and adapt individualized education plans (IEPs) to support students’ unique learning needs and goals
- Deliver engaging lessons across subjects such as literacy, math, and life skills, incorporating curriculum development best practices
- Implement behavioral management strategies to foster positive classroom behavior and social skills
- Collaborate with speech therapists, behavioral health specialists, and other support staff to enhance student outcomes
- Utilize classroom management techniques to maintain a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment
- Conduct assessments, standardized testing, and progress monitoring to evaluate student development
- Provide tutoring, mentoring, and early intervention services to promote childhood development and early childhood education
Skills
- Proven experience working with individuals with disabilities, including autism, developmental disabilities, and hearing impairments such as deaf education
- Strong knowledge of special education laws, IEP development, and behavioral therapy techniques
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with students, parents, colleagues, and support teams
- Ability to develop creative lesson plans that incorporate literacy education, math skills, and library services when applicable
- Skilled in classroom management strategies that promote positive behavior and engagement
- Proficiency in proofreading educational materials and adapting curricula for diverse learners
