Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Estimator/Project Manager to join our team and drive successful project execution from initial bid to completion. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, managing project budgets, and overseeing construction projects to ensure timely delivery and quality standards. Your expertise in construction estimating, project management, and client communication will be vital in fostering strong relationships and delivering exceptional results. Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive cost estimates for commercial construction projects by analyzing blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam to prepare detailed proposals, material requirements, and pricing strategies.
- Manage project budgets by tracking costs, controlling expenses, and implementing effective cost management practices throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review construction drawings thoroughly to interpret technical details, identify potential issues, and ensure accurate material quantity takeoffs.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients to secure favorable terms while maintaining quality standards.
- Coordinate with project teams to plan schedules, allocate resources, and monitor progress using construction management software.
- Communicate regularly with clients, vendors, and internal teams to provide updates, clarify project scope, and address any challenges promptly.
Requirements
- Proven experience managing projects as a construction estimator with a strong background in commercial construction estimating.
- Proficiency in estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, Xactimate or similar tools.
- Solid understanding of blueprint reading, interpreting technical drawings, and estimating material requirements from blueprints.
- Familiarity with construction management software for project scheduling and cost control.
- Excellent negotiation skills combined with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and vendors.
- Strong knowledge of construction industry practices including contracts, project management principles, and cost management techniques.
- Construction site experience is highly preferred to enhance understanding of on-the-ground realities impacting estimates and project execution.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including spreadsheets for data analysis and reporting purposes.
- Ability to review construction drawings critically for accuracy in material estimation and cost control measures.
