Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Interventional Radiology (IR) Technician to join our advanced medical imaging team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in radiologic procedures, including interventional radiology, and demonstrate a strong commitment to patient care and safety. As an IR Tech, you will operate sophisticated imaging equipment, assist in complex procedures, and ensure adherence to radiation safety protocols. Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain radiologic imaging equipment such as fluoroscopy, CT, PET scan, mammography, DEXA scan, and nuclear medicine devices with precision and care.
- Assist physicians during interventional radiology procedures, ensuring optimal imaging support and patient positioning.
- Implement radiation safety procedures diligently to protect patients, staff, and yourself during all imaging activities.
- Prepare patients for procedures by explaining processes, ensuring comfort, and maintaining aseptic techniques throughout interventions.
- Monitor patient vital signs and physiological responses during procedures to ensure safety and effective diagnostic evaluation.
- Maintain accurate documentation of procedures, images captured, and equipment usage in compliance with hospital protocols.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in emergency room settings or Level I/II trauma centers to support urgent care and diagnostic needs.
- Stay current with advancements in medical imaging technology and radiology practices to enhance procedural efficiency and patient outcomes.
Requirements
- Proven experience in urgent care settings, emergency room environments, or trauma centers is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in sonography, fluoroscopy, CT scans, mammography, DEXA scans, nuclear medicine, and interventional radiography techniques.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and diagnostic radiology principles.
- Familiarity with radiation safety procedures and implementing radiation protection protocols effectively.
- Ability to operate various medical imaging equipment including X-ray machines and radiologic imaging systems.
- Experience with aseptic techniques necessary for invasive procedures to prevent infection control issues.
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with diverse patient populations.
- Certification as a Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) or equivalent licensure is required; additional certifications in mammography or nuclear medicine are advantageous.
- Knowledge of Level I/II trauma center operations or emergency medicine experience will be considered a strong asset.
