Location: Indianapolis, IN and surrounding counties (Hamilton, Hancock, Johnson, Marion, Hendricks, and others), with occasional paid full-day trips across Indiana
Job Type: Contract to Hire — part-time, daytime hours

About MyHoneyBird: MyHoneyBird is dedicated to enriching the lives of seniors through technology support and engaging activities. We bring hands-on help and heartfelt connection directly to senior living facilities, youth programs, and private homes throughout the Indianapolis metro area and beyond.
Position Summary: We're looking for a cheerful, patient, and tech-savvy Tech and Activity Specialist to work with seniors and children at facilities and in homes. You'll help bridge the digital divide by diagnosing basic IT issues, teaching technology skills, leading fun group activities like karaoke, bingo, workshops, and seminars, and assisting with product demonstrations at facilities around the state. If you love helping people and can explain tech in plain, friendly language, this role is for you.
This role fits two kinds of people especially well. Teachers, retired teachers, activity staff, CNAs, and caregivers: your experience with seniors or children is exactly what this work takes, and the group-leading comes naturally. High school and college students: you'll gain real-world, hands-on IT experience, and depending on your time commitment, MyHoneyBird offers the opportunity to earn your CompTIA certification — a nationally recognized credential that can jumpstart your career in IT. We work with local high schools and colleges, and you'll be assigned to locations near you so the role fits your schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Visit seniors at homes and facilities across Indianapolis and surrounding counties to provide in-person tech support
- Diagnose and troubleshoot basic IT problems including smartphones, tablets, computers, Wi-Fi, email, video calling, and apps
- Patiently walk seniors through technology use in a clear, jargon-free way
- Plan, organize, and lead group activities such as karaoke, bingo, and other recreational events
- Assist with and run product demonstrations at senior communities and youth facilities
- Facilitate workshops and seminars on topics like internet safety, social media basics, and staying connected with family
- Set up and tear down session equipment
- Build genuine, trusting relationships with clients, facility staff, and families
- Maintain a positive, upbeat, and encouraging attitude at all times
Qualifications:
- Cheerful, warm, and patient personality — this is a must
- Experience working with seniors or children strongly preferred — teachers are always great candidates
- Interest in technology and a willingness to learn (no prior IT career experience required — we'll help you grow)
- Strong basic IT troubleshooting skills or eagerness to develop them (smartphones, tablets, laptops, common software, Wi-Fi, printers)
- Comfortable adapting communication to different comfort levels with technology
- Reliable vehicle and willingness to travel — most work is near you, with occasional paid full-day trips across Indiana
- Able to lift ~40 lbs of session equipment
- Experience leading group activities, workshops, or classroom instruction is a plus
- High school and college students encouraged to apply
- Must pass a background check
