The MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) Paraprofessional provides academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support to students within the District's MTSS framework. Working under the direction of certified staff and building administration, the MTSS Paraprofessional assists with implementing evidence-based interventions, monitoring student progress, and providing targeted support to individual students and small groups.
The position supports the District's efforts to provide timely interventions designed to improve student achievement, behavior, attendance, engagement, and overall school success.
Provide individual and small-group academic interventions as directed by certified staff.
Assist students in developing skills in areas such as reading, mathematics, organization, study skills, and other identified areas of need.
Implement intervention activities and strategies consistent with established MTSS plans and District procedures.
Provide behavioral and social-emotional supports consistent with student intervention plans and building expectations.
Reinforce positive behavior, appropriate social skills, self-regulation, and student engagement.
Assist students with transitions, routines, organization, and successful participation in the school environment.
Collect and maintain student intervention and progress-monitoring data as directed.
Document student participation, performance, behavior, and other information necessary to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
Communicate student progress and concerns to appropriate teachers, interventionists, counselors, administrators, and other designated staff.
Participate in MTSS, student support, or problem-solving meetings when requested.
Assist certified staff with preparing instructional and intervention materials.
Provide classroom support when appropriate and consistent with identified student needs and building programming.
Supervise students in classrooms and other school settings as assigned.
Maintain confidentiality of student records and information in accordance with FERPA, District policies, and applicable state and federal requirements.
Maintain professional and positive relationships with students, staff, families, and the school community.
Follow all District policies, procedures, safety requirements, and established student plans.
Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or designee.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Meet applicable federal, State of Michigan, and District requirements for paraprofessional employment based on the position and funding source.
Ability to work effectively with students with varying academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
Ability to follow instructional and intervention plans developed by certified staff.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to maintain accurate records and student data.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise appropriate professional judgment.
Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a school-based team.
Regular and reliable attendance.
Previous experience working with school-age children.
Experience providing academic or behavioral interventions.
Experience working within an MTSS, PBIS, intervention, or student-support framework.
Coursework or training in education, child development, behavioral support, or a related field.
Experience collecting progress-monitoring or student performance data.

The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
