Duties
- Safely administer prescribed medications to residents or patients following all state healthcare regulations and medical documentation protocols
- Monitor vital signs, observe for adverse reactions, and report any concerns promptly to nursing staff or physicians
- Assist with activities of daily living such as hygiene, mobility, and feeding, including specialized tasks like tube feeding and catheter care
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Medication Aide recognized by the State Board of Nursing or relevant licensing authority
- Proven experience working with geriatric patients in settings such as assisted living, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and basic nursing practices related to senior care and hospice services
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling safely while adhering to OSHA guidelines
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and state healthcare laws governing medication administration and patient privacy
- Excellent communication skills for working effectively with individuals with disabilities or cognitive impairments including Alzheimer’s and dementia care
- Certifications in first aid, CPR, BLS preferred; additional skills in working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in memory care are a plus
