Medical Records Technician
Full-Time | Monday – Friday 8-5
Position Summary
The Medical Records Technician is responsible for the timely, accurate, and complete scanning and indexing of incoming patient documents into the electronic medical record (EMR). This role plays a critical part in ensuring providers and staff have prompt access to patient information while maintaining strict confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Retrieve incoming faxed medical records and documents throughout the day.
- Review documents for legibility and completeness prior to scanning.
- Accurately scan, index, and attach documents to the correct patient chart within the EMR.
- Assign documents to the appropriate document type and date of service when applicable.
- Verify patient identifiers before attaching documents to ensure accuracy.
- Maintain established turnaround times for processing incoming documents.
- Identify duplicate, incomplete, or misdirected documents and route them appropriately.
- Notify appropriate staff of urgent or time-sensitive clinical documents according to office policy.
- Maintain organization of documents until scanning is verified and complete.
- Follow all HIPAA, OSHA, and confidentiality requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and secure work area.
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous medical office experience preferred.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn electronic medical record systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to maintain strict patient confidentiality.
- Experience with Greenway Intergy or another electronic medical record system.
- Experience scanning and indexing medical records in a healthcare setting.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting and computer work.
- Frequent use of hands for keyboard and scanner operation.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to bend, reach, and file documents as needed.

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
