Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Emergency Room (ER) team. The RN in this role will provide comprehensive emergency nursing care to patients across diverse populations, including pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in acute care settings, including Level I and Level II trauma centers, and demonstrate proficiency in managing complex medical conditions. Shift: Night 3x12 (36hrs/week)

Responsibilities
- Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Provide immediate emergency interventions, including airway management, IV insertion, suturing, and aseptic techniques to stabilize patients.
- Administer medications accurately, including pain management, botulinum toxin treatments when indicated, and other emergency medications following prescribed protocols.
- Monitor patients continuously using telemetry and ventilator support as needed; respond swiftly to acute changes in condition.
- Coordinate diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory tests, imaging procedures (CT scans), and specimen collection; interpret results for clinical decision-making.
- Collaborate with physicians and specialists in trauma medicine, infectious disease care, cardiology (including cardiac catheterization), and geriatrics to develop and implement treatment plans.
- Document all patient interactions thoroughly while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations; ensure accurate coding using ICD-10/ICD-9 standards.
- Participate in disaster response activities and trauma team drills; maintain certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Procedures.
Qualifications
- Valid RN license with current registration in the state of practice.
- Minimum of three years of ER experience within a hospital setting; experience working at Level I or Level II trauma centers is highly preferred.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9) is essential.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, critical care procedures, and emergency response protocols.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities, and those requiring specialized care such as long-term or assisted living facilities.
- Competence in advanced skills such as suturing, catheterization (including cardiac catheterization), dialysis management, ostomy care, tube feeding management, and infection control practices.
- Ability to perform complex assessments involving trauma medicine, acute pain management, behavioral health considerations, and infectious disease protocols.
- Excellent communication skills coupled with the ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), neonatal resuscitation if applicable.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards related to aseptic technique and laboratory specimen handling.
