Overmire Consulting Group, LLC is a consulting and tax preparation firm located in Santa Fe, Texas. We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to oversee tax engagements and manage the work of our tax professionals.
The Tax Manager will be responsible for reviewing business and individual tax returns, assigning and monitoring tax work, providing technical guidance, and ensuring that all work is accurate, complete, and delivered on time.
Responsibilities
· Manage the preparation and review of federal and state tax returns.
· Review returns prepared by CPAs and other tax professionals for technical accuracy and completeness.
· Assign tax engagements and monitor workflow, deadlines, and staff capacity.
· Provide technical guidance on complex tax matters.
· Review supporting schedules, workpapers, elections, and tax calculations.
· Communicate review comments and ensure corrections are completed.
· Assist with tax planning and respond to client questions.
· Research tax issues and document recommended positions.
· Establish and maintain consistent tax preparation and review procedures.
· Train, mentor, and evaluate tax professionals.
· Coordinate with bookkeeping, administrative, and consulting team members.
· Maintain the confidentiality of client and tax information.
Qualifications
· Active CPA license.
· Significant experience preparing and reviewing business and individual tax returns.
· Strong knowledge of corporations, S corporations, partnerships, disregarded LLCs, and individual taxation.
· Prior experience supervising or reviewing the work of tax professionals.
· Strong technical research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to manage multiple engagements and filing deadlines.
· Experience with tax preparation, document management, and workflow software such as Karbon or a similar platform.
Position: Full-time, in-office
Office Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Compensation: $115,000 to $135,000, based on experience
Health Insurance: Employee medical and dental coverage paid by the employer
Paid Time Off: Commensurate with experience
