Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Assistant to provide comprehensive support to individuals requiring assistance with activities of daily living. This role involves delivering personalized care in home and community settings, ensuring safety, comfort, and well-being. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in healthcare, caregiving, and support services, with a focus on enhancing the quality of life for clients with diverse needs, including seniors, individuals with disabilities, or those recovering from illness. Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor and record vital signs and patient observations to ensure health status is maintained or improved
- Administer medications following prescribed care plans in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Support clients with meal preparation, feeding, and nutritional needs while adhering to dietary restrictions
- Operate assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts with patients who weight 280Ib and manage safe transfers to prevent injury
- Provide companionship and emotional support to promote mental well-being
- Maintain cleanliness of the living environment through light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning and organizing
- Observe and report any changes in health or behavior to healthcare professionals or family members
- Assist with medical appointments and coordinate transportation as needed
- Follow care plans meticulously while respecting client preferences and privacy standards
Qualifications
- Prior experience in home health, assisted living, nursing home, or long-term care settings preferred
- Knowledge of patient care techniques, including CPR and first aid.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when required for resident transfers or mobility assistance
- Familiarity with medication administration and vital signs monitoring
- Strong communication skills coupled with patience and empathy for diverse client needs
- Certification in CPR or first aid is highly desirable; ongoing training opportunities available
- Experience working within HIPAA guidelines, ensuring confidentiality of patient information
- Valid driver’s license preferred for transportation responsibilities
- Ability to work independently while maintaining excellent attention to detail and safety protocols
