Position Overview
The Lead AV Technician ("Lead") is responsible for taking ownership of all assigned projects and ensuring they are completed according to the timelines established by the Project Manager. In addition, the Lead provides direction, guidance, and support to AV Integrators while leading by example through high-quality onsite work. The Lead is expected to demonstrate exceptional workmanship, professionalism, and safe work practices, setting the standard for AV Integrators to follow. The Lead reports directly to the Project Manager and must also obtain industry credentials for advancement.
Key Responsibilities
- Review the job folder and documentation in their entirety.
- Verify all equipment against printed drawings and project documentation; communicate issues or concerns to the Project Manager.
- Identify, report, and solve issues that will impact the project(s).
- Delegate and manage tasks for the rest of the crew while proactively encouraging teamwork.
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
- Provide effective communication by supplying daily updates through the project management system.
- Direct and work alongside AV Integrators and assist the Project Manager with overall project needs.
- Communicate all issues related to the project or personnel to the Project Manager.
- Perform quality control checks on finished products/projects.
- Attend construction meetings in place of Project Managers/Engineers when requested by the Project Manager.
- Conduct post-project walkthroughs with the client when requested by the Project Manager.
- Rig and mount equipment and displays.
- Install cabling, including pulling, terminating, and testing Cat6, video, RGB, HDMI, fiber, and audio cables.
- Ensure products are accounted for, staged, or returned to the proper locations each day.
- Conduct pre-installation site surveys when requested by the Project Manager.
- Ensure inventory and non-inventory consumables are secured for each project.
- Train and coach AV Integrators, as their role is to make the Lead Technician's job easier.
- Follow all REMS and client safety guidelines.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years of experience with AV installation, including rack construction, site preparation, rigging equipment, termination, calibration of audio/video equipment, and implementation of control systems is preferred
- Minimum of 2 years in a leadership position is preferred
- Minimum of 2 years with the same employer within the past 5 years is preferred
- Experience working in education, government, and/or commercial properties is a plus.
- Experience reading and interpreting architectural, electrical, structural, and reflected ceiling plans is a plus.
- College degree preferred.
- Teachable mindset and enthusiasm for continuing education.
- Experience completing projects both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to safely suspend and lift objects.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Clean driving record.
- Flexibility to work varied schedules.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, and climb ladders, as well as work at heights using scaffolding, boom lifts, and scissor lifts.
- Ability to lift 30 lbs. overhead and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to travel to Lubbock and job sites across West Texas.
- Must consent to a criminal background check.
Pay: From $30.00 per hour
