This position is with AlumiSource, a subsidiary of Sims Limited. Sims Metal is the world’s leading publicly listed metal recycler, with operations encompassing the buying, processing, and selling of ferrous and non-ferrous recycled metals.
Maintenance Mechanic
In-depth knowledge of conveyor systems, hydraulics, belt systems, motors, and other industrial machine mechanisms essential for job procedures is required. Specialized training in Diesel Mechanics, Hydraulics and Heavy mobile equipment maintenance.
- Disassemble and reassemble the equipment for repair or transportation.
- Build the foundation for machines.
- Construct and install equipment such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails.
- Review and interpret engineering specifications, schematics, and blueprints to determine work procedures.
- Transfer equipment to the applicable site for maintenance to avoid contamination or safety hazards.
- Grind and file machinery parts.
- Supervise construction workers when using the equipment.
- Work with a range of hand tools including measuring tools, welding, and brazing equipment.
- Determine which machines, techniques, and tools to use when moving equipment and completing jobs.
- Visit various construction sites.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- A minimum of 5 years experience as a maintenance technician
- A typical schedule is Mon-Fri from 6:30 am-3:00 p.m.
- Prior certified training from a union, trade school, or tech institute is preferred
- Must pass pre-employment physical, background check, and drug screen.
