We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and dedicated Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in laboratory procedures and techniques, with a focus on quality control and compliance with FDA regulations. This role is essential in supporting our research and development efforts, ensuring accurate data collection and analysis within a dynamic laboratory environment.
Responsibilities
- Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment
- Sorting, and receiving specimens in the department.
- Performs routine instrument maintenance on some equipment.
- Performs laboratory tasks of centrifuging specimens, printing extra labels, recording data (temperature charts) specimen storage and retrieval.
- Preparing reagents and or media in the department.
- Preparing specimens at workstations for testing. (Including building worklists, aliquoting specimens into sample cups, checking specimens for clots and fibrin, inoculation, slide preparation)
- Performs QA/QC duties as assigned.
- Resolves pending lists.
- Finds missing samples.
- Decontaminates work areas.
- Performs weekly radioactive wipe tests.
- Maintains files for department records.
- Changes gas cylinders.
- Follows all PPE requirements and all safety regulations.
- Uses the laboratory computer system as well as operates PCs.
- Disposes of biohazardous material.
- Completes training and competency checklists as appropriate.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Medical Technology and Laboratory Medicine
- Hands-on Laboratory Skills, including the preparation and analysis of samples
- Experience with Laboratory Equipment such as chemistry, immunoassay, and hematology analyzers in a moderate-complexity laboratory, and its proper maintenance
- Knowledge of Quality Control and adherence to laboratory safety protocols
- Attention to detail and ability to follow precise procedural guidelines
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Standing for long periods of time.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Biology, or a related field preferred
- Certification or eligibility for certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (e.g., ASCP or AMT) is highly desirable
- 2+ years of lab experience desired
- Experience in endocrinology or metabolic medicine is a plus
Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
