Position Summary:
The Equipment Mechanic is responsible for performing repair and preventative maintenance on Mart Trucking equipment i.e. hogs, pilers, tractors, semis, trailers, and any other equipment as needed. This position keeps all workspaces safe and clean. Works directly with the operations supervisor to plan, schedule, complete, and document repair and preventative maintenance programs and repairs. Understands the equipment used and repairs, services, and fabricates as needed for a wide range of equipment types. Performs other duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow and maintain compliance with preventative maintenance programs to include but not limited to:
- Oil change, replace belts/chains, brakes, maintain lubricants, remove/replace worn parts
- Hydraulic lines and fittings
- Safety Checks
- Complete proper documentation
- Repair trucks, tractors, trailers, motors, gears, drivers, conveyor belt systems, bearings, gears, and electrical motors.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues through observations, maintenance manuals, and diagnostic tools in a timely manner.
- Make repair and maintenance recommendations to Operations Supervisor.
- Properly maintain and use personal protective equipment, tools, and other needs.
- Follow all company safety procedures and practices to maintain a safe, clean work environment to avoid accidents or injury.
- Ability to safely transport equipment.
Minimum Qualifications, Education, & Experience:
- Idaho driver’s license with less than 7 points on record
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Two years’ experience as a mechanic for machinery and/or technical degree in a related field.
- Knowledge/experience with electric motor repair.
- Use phone technology for assigned apps and software.
- Basic computer skills.
- Good English communication skills.
- Solid judgment, dependable, and trustworthy.
- Positive team attitude and working well with others.
- Self-motivated - ability to stay on task without constant supervision.
- High mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to lift to 80 pounds regularly.
Preferred Qualifications, Education, & Experience:
- Two years’ experience as a mechanic for machinery and/or technical degree in related field
- Knowledge/experience with electric motor repair.
- Class A CDL
- Diesel engine maintenance knowledge/experience
- Bilingual (Spanish)
Work Environment:
- Outdoors in Idaho climate year-round.
- Shop environment with loud noises.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $26.00 - $36.00 per hour
