Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced, customer-focused Automotive Service Advisor to join our fast-paced automotive repair facility. As the primary point of contact for our customers, you will play a critical role in delivering exceptional service while coordinating repairs, communicating with technicians, preparing estimates, and ensuring every customer has a smooth and transparent service experience.
The ideal candidate has previous experience in an independent repair shop or dealership, understands automotive repair procedures, is comfortable using shop management software, and has a proven ability to build trust with customers while maximizing service opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and accurately assess and document vehicle concerns.
- Prepare repair estimates and explain recommended repairs and maintenance in a clear, professional manner.
- Coordinate with technicians to prioritize repairs and provide timely updates to customers.
- Schedule appointments and manage daily repair workflow.
- Maintain accurate customer, vehicle, and repair records.
- Research, source, price, and order automotive parts from vendors while ensuring availability and timely delivery.
- Process invoices, collect payments, and handle transactions accurately.
- Recommend preventative maintenance and additional services based on vehicle condition.
- Build long-term customer relationships through outstanding customer service.
- Communicate repair timelines and ensure customer satisfaction throughout the service process.
- Work closely with parts suppliers to ensure efficient repair turnaround times.
- Support a clean, organized, and efficient service department.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an Automotive Service Advisor.
- Experience using one or more automotive shop management systems such as:
- Shopmonkey
- Mitchell 1
- Tekmetric
- RO Writer
- ALLDATA Manage
- Protractor
- Or similar shop management software
- Strong understanding of automotive maintenance and repair procedures, including:
- Oil changes
- Brake repairs
- Suspension and steering
- Tire services and alignments
- Engine diagnostics
- Cooling systems
- Transmission services
- General vehicle maintenance
- Excellent customer service, communication, and sales skills.
- Ability to explain technical information to customers in a simple and professional manner.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Computer proficiency and experience with digital estimates and service writing software.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Digital Vehicle Inspections (DVI).
- Mechanical or technician background is a plus.
- Experience in both dealership and independent repair shop environments.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
- Experience with California Smog inspections is a plus.
