Rooted in the values of kindness, dignity, and social justice, Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains (LFSRM) strengthens communities by providing support, guidance, and resource coordination to individuals and families throughout the Rocky Mountain region. Approximately 60% of eligible newcomer populations in their state are at risk of homelessness or currently are experiencing homelessness. LFSRM is required to connect clients with the resources and services needed to access long- term safe, affordable housing; however, according to the National Low Income Housing Coalition there is a significant issue with housing in Montana, and the need for additional resources to prevent homelessness is essential. Access to safe, sanitary, and affordable housing supports integration, contribution, and a sense of belonging in their new community. These connections, in addition to providing safety, security, and economic benefits, equip global entrepreneurs to navigate new lives. They have an impact on the communities through their unique trade and knowledge skill sets, stimulating the country’s economy, enriching the local culture, revitalizing towns and labor forces that have been in economic decline, and increasing local productivity. This project will alleviate poverty by improving access to business education, enabling new community members to make a transition that supports positive social, health, and economic outcomes.
