Role Description
QCI Group is seeking an experienced Construction Engineer based in Garfield Heights, OH. The Construction Engineer – highway/roadway supports the roadway, utilities and construction oversight on transportation and public infrastructure projects. This role involves contract administration support, construction engineering, and coordinating with contractors, coordinating with clients, ensuring compliance with project plans and specifications, maintaining thorough project documentation, and supporting quality assurance and safety protocols on site.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and oversee daily field inspections to verify construction activities that follow approved plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and maintain checklists for roadway inspections, source inspections in accordance with project plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Provide oversight and validate that materials, methods, and work conform to contract documents, client specifications.
- Create and manage project records, daily reports, quantity calculations, photos, punch-lists and other appropriate documentation. Maintain detailed daily field reports, quantity calculations, inspection logs, and photographic documentation, develop punch-lists and as-built documentation.
- Observe contractor progress and attend all necessary meetings.
- Communicate with Client, Contractor personnel, and stakeholders to resolve field issues.
- Assist with punch lists, closeout documentation, and final reports.
- Able to be flexible and work days, nights, and/or weekends in heavy construction if needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (minimum) in Civil Engineering
- Must possess an active P.E. License
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant engineering experience
- Minimum of 5 years of construction inspection and management experience on similar highway and bridge construction projects
- Knowledge of construction practices and the approved methods and equipment used in performing physical inspections
- Ability to perform engineering calculations
- Ability to work independently and perform inspection duties in the construction field office
- Ability to use typical computer programs such as Microsoft Office
