The Infection Prevention Coordinator is responsible for an active, hospital-wide program for preventing, identifying, reporting, investigating, and controlling infections and communicable diseases by utilizing and adhering to nationally recognized standards of practice. The Infection Prevention Coordinator is responsible for ensuring compliance with state and federal regulatory agencies related to infection prevention and control practices across healthcare, including in the hospital and clinics. The Infection Prevention Coordinator collaborates with the healthcare team, long-term care, and community agencies to address infectious disease concerns and other relevant topics. The Infection Preventionist is appointed to the position by the governing body based on recommendations from medical staff and nursing leadership.
