This position will be servicing the Greensboro, NC and surrounding areas.
Mid-Atlantic Crane has been designing, manufacturing, installing, and servicing overhead cranes and hoists for more than 45 years. We support industrial and manufacturing customers across the eastern United States and are known for delivering high-quality equipment and dependable field service.
We are currently hiring a Service Technician to join our field service team. This is a hands-on role responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining overhead crane and hoist systems at customer job sites.

What You’ll Do
As a Service Technician, you will:
- Inspect overhead cranes and hoists at customer facilities
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in the field
- Perform repairs, adjustments, and preventative maintenance on crane systems
- Conduct detailed inspections and document deficiencies for repair recommendations
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
- Work with high-voltage systems and three-phase motors
- Operate aerial lifts, scissor lifts, and related jobsite equipment safely
- Complete inspection reports, work orders, and service documentation accurately and on time
- Communicate with customers regarding equipment condition, recommended repairs, and safe crane operation
- Use company technology systems to provide updates and service information from the field
- Maintain company-issued tools, equipment, and service vehicles
- Follow company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and CMAA guidelines at all times
- Participate in an on-call rotation to support emergency customer service needs
- Represent Mid-Atlantic Crane professionally when working with customers and contractors
What We’re Looking For
Preferred experience includes:
- At least 1 year of hands-on experience working with cranes, hoists, industrial equipment, or field service operations
- Experience performing mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repairs
- Experience working with high-voltage systems (220V, 240V, 480V) and three-phase motors
- Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
- Experience working in industrial, manufacturing, construction, or maintenance environments
- Experience operating aerial lifts or similar equipment preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in the field
Helpful additional skills (not required):
- Overhead crane inspection or service experience
- Welding or fabrication experience
- Military technical training
- CDL license
Requirements
Candidates must:
- Have a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Be insurable under company liability insurance
- Be able to pass background checks required for access to military installations
- Pass required drug screening and DOT physical exam
- Be comfortable participating in an on-call rotation schedule
- Be willing to work overtime, weekends, or holidays as needed based on customer demand
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This role involves hands-on field service work in industrial jobsite environments.
Candidates must be comfortable:
- Working at heights up to 200 feet
- Standing and working on their feet for extended periods
- Lifting up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs occasionally
- Climbing ladders and working from aerial lifts
- Working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Working around heavy equipment and industrial machinery
- Traveling to customer sites throughout the region
