As a Medical Assistant you will be responsible for providing clinical and administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the medical office. You will support doctors and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication. The target is to complete all activities accurately, with high quality and in a timely manner. Experience with prior-authorizations is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Interview patients and document basic medical history
- Perform Prior-Authorization for procedures and drugs
- Work with schedulers to organize appointments
- Scan documents to electronic medical record
- Arrange testing and laboratory services and insurance approvals
- Assist during medical examinations
- Perform Injections, Vital Signs, Phlebotomy and patient training
- Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms
- Answer phone calls and take accurate and complete messages
- Call in prescriptions and obtain prior authorizations
- Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments
Skills
- Proven working experience as a medical assistant
- Medical Terminology, Vital Signs, Phlebotomy, Injections
- Knowledge of electronic health record systems
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Social perceptiveness and service oriented
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Education in clinical role, medical assisting
