Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and professional Lead Front Dental Receptionist to join our busy dental practice. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, manage front desk operations, and oversee administrative functions to ensure smooth clinic workflow. This role requires excellent communication skills, proficiency with dental and medical software systems, and a strong understanding of healthcare documentation and billing procedures. Bilingual abilities and prior dental office experience are highly valued to enhance patient service and office efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and provide exceptional customer service at the front desk
- Manage patient scheduling, appointment confirmations, and rescheduling using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar platforms
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and handle billing processes including medical collections and claims submission
- Maintain accurate medical and dental records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, including CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 codes, and care plans
- Assist with medical billing procedures utilizing Meditech, eClinicalWorks, Athenahealth, or other EHR systems
- Handle multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette and manage patient inquiries efficiently
- Support office management tasks such as filing, data entry (10 key typing), and maintaining organized records
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure seamless patient intake processes and documentation review
- Train or supervise front desk staff as needed to uphold high standards of patient service and administrative support
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental or medical office environment is required; clinic experience is preferred
- Proficiency with dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is essential
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and health information management practices
- Experience with insurance verification, medical billing, coding, and documentation review processes
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems including Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and office equipment operation
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to better serve diverse patient populations
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive patient information in compliance with HIPAA standards
- Exceptional organizational skills combined with excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—are essential for success in this role
Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
