Northern Door Children's Center is seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Four-Year-Old Kindergarten (4K) Teacher to become part of our dedicated team. This full-time, year-round position offers the opportunity to help children build confidence, develop foundational skills, and prepare for a successful transition to kindergarten—all while working in the beautiful community of Sister Bay.
About the Role
As our 4K Teacher, you will collaborate with fellow educators to provide a warm, engaging classroom where children feel safe, valued, and excited to learn. Through purposeful play, hands-on experiences, and intentional instruction, you'll support each child's growth across all areas of development while partnering with families to ensure every child thrives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and lead age-appropriate learning experiences that encourage curiosity, independence, and school readiness.
- Deliver literacy instruction using evidence-based practices aligned with the Science of Reading, including phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension.
- Foster an inclusive classroom environment where every child feels welcomed, respected, and supported.
- Encourage positive social-emotional development through nurturing guidance and responsive teaching strategies.
- Observe children's progress, maintain developmental records, and use assessments to inform instruction.
- Build strong relationships with families through regular communication about classroom activities and student growth.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and leadership to support center initiatives and student success.
- Ensure the classroom meets all licensing, health, safety, and organizational standards.
- Participate in professional learning opportunities, staff meetings, and center-wide events.
Qualifications
We're looking for candidates who have:
- A bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field (preferred).
- A Wisconsin DPI teaching license or eligibility for licensure (preferred).
- Experience working with preschool or 4K-age children.
- Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate teaching practices.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain certification.
- The ability to successfully complete all required background screenings.
