Position Overview
Great Basin Staffing LLC is seeking experienced Electrical & Instrumentation (I&E) Technicians for a full-time, direct placement I&E maintenance opportunity in Barstow, CA. This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical distribution systems, process instrumentation, and industrial control equipment. Ideal candidates will have experience working on medium-voltage electrical systems, instrumentation, and automated process controls in an industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical distribution equipment including 12kV switchgear, transformers, MCCs, VFDs, and motor control systems.
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot 480V–208V industrial power systems, lighting, and branch circuits.
- Diagnose and repair 24V–120V control circuits, relays, and low-voltage control systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance, insulation testing, breaker testing, and electrical safety inspections.
- Assist with electrical equipment commissioning and startup activities.
- Install, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain industrial instrumentation including:
- Flow meters
- Level transmitters
- Pressure transmitters
- Temperature sensors (RTDs & Thermocouples)
- Perform loop checks, control valve calibration, and signal verification utilizing 4–20mA, HART, and Modbus communication protocols.
- Troubleshoot PLC and DCS field devices, I/O systems, and industrial communication networks.
- Support automated systems, SCADA troubleshooting, and instrumentation diagnostics.
- Complete preventive and predictive maintenance while maintaining accurate documentation within a CMMS.
- Assist engineering and maintenance teams with equipment upgrades, reliability improvements, and root cause analysis.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of Industrial Electrical & Instrumentation (I&E) experience required.
- Experience maintaining electrical systems from 12kV distribution through 24V control circuits.
- Strong calibration and troubleshooting experience with flow, level, pressure, and temperature instrumentation.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, loop drawings, and wiring diagrams.
- Experience with PLCs, DCS, SCADA systems, and industrial communication protocols.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to work independently and respond to emergency callouts when necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Allen-Bradley, Emerson, Siemens, Foxboro, or Yokogawa control systems.
- State Journeyman Electrician License preferred.
- ISA, NCCER, or other Instrumentation certifications preferred.
- Experience working in hazardous locations.
- NFPA 70E training preferred.
