Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medication Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective administration of medications to residents, particularly those with developmental disabilities. This position requires a strong commitment to patient care, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
- Administer prescribed medications to residents in accordance with established protocols and regulations.
- Monitor residents for any adverse reactions or side effects from medications and report findings to nursing staff.
- Maintain accurate records of medication administration and ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
- Assist with daily living activities and provide caregiving support as needed.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including nurses and physicians, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Educate residents about their medications, including potential side effects and the importance of adherence to prescribed regimens.
- Participate in training sessions and ongoing education to stay current on best practices in medication management.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a nursing home or acute care setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and patient care practices is essential.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems such as Cerner or Epic is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
