Helper A / Maintenance Porter (SEIU Local 1)

A premier River North high-rise condominium is seeking an experienced Helper A / Maintenance Porter to join our building operations team. This is an excellent opportunity for a dependable union maintenance professional who takes pride in maintaining a luxury residential property to the highest standards.
This role is responsible for the cleanliness, upkeep, maintenance support, and resident service needs of the building, including common areas, recreational amenities, grounds, and in-unit service requests.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the building, common areas, amenity spaces, and grounds to exceptional cleanliness standards
- Perform daily janitorial and porter duties throughout the property
- Complete service requests and minor maintenance repairs within condominium units
- Conduct daily inspections of mechanical equipment and building operating systems
- Assist with emergency maintenance repairs in units, common areas, and building systems
- Safely operate cleaning equipment, hand tools, and power tools
- Follow established cleaning schedules, procedures, and preventive maintenance routines
- Respond promptly and professionally to building emergencies
- Assist engineering staff with building maintenance tasks as assigned
- Support upkeep of recreational facilities and other shared spaces
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of janitorial, maintenance, or building operations experience
- Experience in high-rise residential, condominium, or commercial buildings preferred
- Working knowledge of:
- Household and industrial cleaning chemicals
- Closed-loop and cooling tower chemicals
- Cleaning equipment and maintenance tools
- Safe use of hand tools and power equipment
- Ability to understand basic building equipment and operating systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and follow procedures
- Must be able to:
- Climb ladders
- Bend, kneel, and stoop
- Lift heavy materials and equipment
- Work safely in a physically demanding environment
Reporting Structure
Reports directly to the:
- Assistant Engineer
- Chief Engineer
- Association Manager
Schedule
Full-Time Union Position — Schedule Subject to Change
- Tuesday–Saturday: AM shift
- Sunday and Monday: Off
Compensation & Benefits
This is a SEIU Local 1 union position with benefits provided in accordance with the ABOMA / SEIU Local 1 collective bargaining agreement, including:

Additional Requirements
