Job Description:
Energy Diagnostics is hiring Air Sealers to join our growing team! This is a great opportunity for someone who is dependable, eager to learn, and excited to work in the residential construction industry. No prior experience is required—we'll provide all the training, tools, and support you need to succeed. If you already have knowledge of residential construction, that's a big plus, but not a must.
In this role, you'll work on-site at new home construction projects throughout Illinois, applying air sealing measures that boost energy efficiency, comfort, and overall performance. You'll help builders meet important energy code requirements while contributing to the delivery of high-quality, energy-efficient homes.
A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required, as you'll travel to residential job sites each day. The good news? You'll be driving a company-provided work van and using a company gas card, so you won't be putting miles or fuel costs on your personal vehicle. Reliability and punctuality are essential to success in this field-based position.
What You'll Do
- Apply air sealing materials (such as caulk, foam, and weatherstripping) to reduce air leakage in homes under construction
- Inspect and identify gaps, cracks, and penetrations in the building envelope
- Follow established best practices to ensure homes meet energy code requirements
- Collaborate with site supervisors and coworkers to ensure high-quality workmanship
- Maintain clean, organized workspaces and follow all safety protocols
- Drive a company-provided work van to and from daily job sites using a company gas card
- Use company-provided tools and materials to complete air sealing work efficiently
- Communicate clearly with team members and project managers to stay on schedule
What We're Looking For
- Experience in construction, insulation, or air sealing is a plus—but we'll train the right candidate
- Someone who takes pride in doing a job well and pays attention to details
- Physically able to bend, climb ladders, and work in attics or tight spaces
- Comfortable working in a variety of weather conditions and home construction stages
- Self-motivated and able to manage tasks independently
- A good communicator who works well with others and values being part of a team
Must Haves
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Willingness to travel to our Valparaiso, Indiana, office for initial training and occasional team meetings
