Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Vehicle Inspector & Parts Procurement Specialist to evaluate vehicle condition, document inventory, identify required repairs, and source necessary parts. The ideal candidate will have strong automotive knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to accurately assess both mechanical and cosmetic vehicle conditions.
Key ResponsibilitiesVehicle Inspection
- Conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections upon arrival and throughout the repair process.
- Assess and document vehicle body condition, including dents, scratches, paint damage, rust, and structural concerns.
- Inspect mechanical systems including engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, steering, electrical systems, and drivetrain components.
- Identify damaged, missing, or worn parts requiring repair or replacement.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports with repair recommendations.
Parts Procurement
- Research, source, and purchase parts required for vehicle repairs and maintenance.
- Compare pricing, availability, and quality from multiple vendors and suppliers.
- Coordinate parts orders to ensure timely delivery and minimize repair delays.
- Maintain records of purchased parts, invoices, and supplier information.
- Verify received parts match order specifications and vehicle requirements.
Photo Documentation & Inventory
- Create and maintain photographic records of all vehicles.
- Take clear, detailed photos of vehicle exteriors, interiors, VIN numbers, damage areas, and repair progress.
- Organize and upload photos into inventory management systems.
- Maintain accurate vehicle inventory records, including condition reports and status updates.
- Ensure all documentation is complete and easily accessible.
Inventory Management
- Track vehicle inventory and monitor vehicle status throughout the inspection and repair process.
- Maintain accurate records of parts inventory and vehicle locations.
- Report discrepancies, missing items, or damage immediately.
Qualifications
- Automotive inspection, mechanic, body shop, or vehicle appraisal experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of vehicle mechanical systems and body repair processes.
- Ability to identify repair needs and estimate required parts.
- Experience purchasing automotive parts and working with suppliers.
- Proficiency with smartphones, tablets, and computer-based inventory systems.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a shop or yard environment.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with collision repair or salvage vehicles.
- Knowledge of OEM and aftermarket parts sourcing.
- Familiarity with vehicle inventory management software.
- Basic photography and documentation skills.
