Human Resources Generalist – Onboarding & Safety Coordinator

Pay Range: $28.00–$36.00 per hour (DOE)
Position Summary
The Human Resources Generalist – Onboarding & Safety Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the Company's recruiting support, onboarding, employee training, safety administration, and day-to-day Human Resources operations.
Working under the direction of the Human Resources Manager, this position ensures employees receive a positive onboarding experience while supporting compliance with company policies, OSHA requirements, and California employment regulations. The position follows established procedures and serves as a resource to employees and supervisors while referring matters requiring independent judgment or policy interpretation to the Human Resources Manager.
This position does not make independent employment decisions but plays a critical role in coordinating HR and safety processes that support the organization's operations.
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesRecruitment & Hiring Support
- Coordinate recruitment activities for seasonal, temporary, and regular employees.
- Communicate with employment agencies regarding staffing needs.
- Schedule interviews with hiring managers.
- Coordinate pre-employment drug testing and physical examinations.
- Prepare offer letters and onboarding documentation.
- Maintain applicant tracking records.
- Assist with hiring events and recruiting initiatives.
Employee Onboarding
- Coordinate all aspects of the new hire onboarding process.
- Conduct new hire orientation.
- Complete I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification.
- Assist employees with Paycom enrollment and electronic onboarding.
- Review company policies and required employment documents.
- Prepare personnel files.
- Coordinate employee badges, lockers, uniforms, keys, and PPE.
- Ensure all required onboarding documentation is completed accurately.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for new employees during onboarding.
Human Resources Administration
- Maintain confidential employee personnel files.
- Process employee status changes.
- Maintain HR records and documentation.
- Prepare employment verification requests.
- Assist with benefits enrollment and employee questions.
- Respond to routine employee and supervisor inquiries.
- Prepare HR reports and spreadsheets.
- Support HR projects and departmental initiatives.
- Maintain compliance with document retention requirements.
Safety & Training Coordination
- Coordinate company safety training programs.
- Conduct new hire safety orientation.
- Schedule annual and recurring safety training.
- Track employee certifications and required training.
- Assign and monitor Paycom learning modules.
- Maintain OSHA training records.
- Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Coordinate hearing tests, respirator fit testing, and other compliance programs.
- Assist with facility safety inspections and audits.
- Coordinate third-party safety training vendors.
- Prepare monthly safety and training reports.
- Monitor compliance deadlines and notify supervisors of upcoming expirations.
Compliance Support
- Maintain required OSHA documentation and safety records.
- Assist with internal, customer, and regulatory audits.
- Ensure required employment documents are completed and retained.
- Maintain HR and training files in accordance with company policy.
- Support implementation of company policies and procedures.
Employee Support
- Answer routine HR questions regarding policies and procedures.
- Assist employees with Paycom navigation and self-service functions.
- Coordinate employee recognition and engagement activities.
- Promote a professional, welcoming, and service-oriented HR environment.
- Escalate employee concerns requiring interpretation or management decisions to the Human Resources Manager.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain HR filing systems.
- Order onboarding and office supplies.
- Coordinate meetings and training events.
- Travel between company locations as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required
- Associate's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of two years of Human Resources or administrative experience.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Valid California Driver's License.
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field.
- Experience with onboarding and recruitment.
- Experience coordinating employee training or workplace safety programs.
- Experience with Paycom or another HRIS.
- Agricultural or manufacturing experience.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Physical Requirements
- Sit, stand, and walk throughout the workday.
- Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Travel between company locations.
- Conduct training and facility walkthroughs in office, warehouse, shop, plant, and orchard environments.

Pay: $28.00 - $36.00 per hour
