Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead HVAC Technician specializing in residential and light commercial systems to join our team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead service projects, troubleshoot complex HVAC systems, and mentor junior technicians. As a key player in our service operation, you will ensure high-quality installations, repairs, and maintenance of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and related mechanical systems. Duties
- Lead and oversee HVAC service calls, installations, repairs, and maintenance for residential and light commercial clients.
- Diagnose system issues using schematics, electrical testing tools such as ohmmeters, and mechanical knowledge to identify root causes efficiently.
- Interpret HVAC design plans and schematics to execute precise system upgrades or new installations.
- Perform refrigeration repairs including ammonia refrigeration systems and HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning / Refrigeration) equipment.
- Conduct plumbing work related to HVAC systems, including condensate drainage and refrigerant line connections.
- Utilize welding skills for ductwork fabrication or repair as needed; operate equipment repair tools to maintain optimal system performance.
- Mentor field technicians on technical procedures, safety protocols, and customer service standards while ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
- Maintain detailed documentation of service activities, schematics updates, and maintenance logs for quality assurance.
- Support property maintenance tasks related to HVAC systems to ensure continuous operation and safety compliance.
- Drive company vehicles responsibly while adhering to all safety policies; maintain a clean driving record suitable for <PERSON> driver requirements.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a service technician with a strong background in HVAC systems for residential or light commercial properties.
- Extensive knowledge of HVAC design principles, schematics interpretation, and mechanical systems troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience with refrigeration systems including ammonia refrigeration is highly.
- Familiarity with field service operations involving air conditioning units, property maintenance tasks, and general mechanical knowledge.
- Ability to read electrical diagrams and use testing tools such as ohmmeters confidently.
- Mechanical experience with boilers or other heating equipment is preferred; certification in HVAC/R or related fields is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to lead a team effectively while maintaining excellent customer relations.
