Part-Time Facility Maintenance Technician

About the Role
Apex Sports Hub is looking for a dependable, hands-on Part-Time Facility Maintenance Technician to help keep our sports facility safe, functional, and looking its best.
We’re looking for a strong general maintenance professional—someone who can handle a wide range of routine repairs and facility upkeep, troubleshoot issues independently, and know when a problem should be escalated to a licensed contractor.
This is not a specialist electrician, plumber, or HVAC role. The ideal candidate is an experienced all-around maintenance person who can take ownership of day-to-day facility needs and complete quality work with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic electrical maintenance, such as replacing switches, outlets, light fixtures, bulbs, and troubleshooting minor issues within appropriate safety limits
- Handle basic plumbing repairs, including faucets, toilets, drains, minor leaks, and fixture replacement
- Patch and repair drywall, including holes, dents, and other wall damage
- Perform interior and exterior painting and touch-up work
- Repair doors, locks, handles, hinges, trim, and other facility hardware
- Complete basic carpentry and general building repairs
- Assemble, install, or repair shelving, fixtures, equipment, and other facility items
- Perform preventative maintenance and routine facility inspections
- Troubleshoot minor HVAC or mechanical issues and identify when professional service is required
- Respond to maintenance issues and prioritize repairs based on safety and operational impact
- Maintain tools, supplies, and maintenance work areas
- Identify potential maintenance problems before they become larger or more expensive repairs
- Communicate clearly with management regarding repairs, priorities, and items requiring outside contractors
- Coordinate with licensed professionals when electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or other work exceeds the appropriate scope of general maintenance
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in facility maintenance, property maintenance, construction, handyman work, or a related field
- Strong working knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, painting, drywall repair, carpentry, and general facility maintenance
- Ability to diagnose routine maintenance problems and determine practical solutions
- Ability to work independently and manage a maintenance task list with minimal supervision
- Good judgment regarding what can be safely handled in-house and what should be escalated to a licensed professional
- Reliable, punctual, and able to communicate clearly with staff and management
- Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
- Comfortable safely using common hand tools and power tools
- Ability to perform physical maintenance work, including lifting, carrying, bending, climbing ladders, and working on your feet
Schedule & Compensation
- Approximately 15 hours per week
- $23–$27 per hour, depending on experience and demonstrated skill level
- Part-time schedule with some flexibility based on facility needs
- Some maintenance work may need to be completed around programming, practices, games, tournaments, and events
What Success Looks Like
The right person for this role will be someone we can trust to walk through the facility, notice what needs attention, prioritize the work, and handle most routine maintenance issues without constant supervision.
You should be comfortable taking ownership of a list, solving problems, and communicating when something requires additional expertise.
