What You’ll Do
- Review referrals submitted to Youth Court for preliminary intake assessment
- Gather and evaluate relevant juvenile and family information
- Assist in determining appropriate Youth Court intake actions
- Communicate with involved parties such as law enforcement, schools, and community partners
- Document case details accurately and timely in court management systems
- Maintain complete, confidential records in compliance with court policies
- Support data entry, reporting, and quality assurance activities
- Travel between assigned Youth Courts within approximately 3–4 counties as required
What You Need
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Human Services, Counseling, Family Studies, or related field
- Valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, acceptable Motor Vehicle Record
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism
- Ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities
Preferred:
- Experience in juvenile justice, social services, or court settings
- Excellent problem-solving and record-keeping skills
- Ability to establish professional relationships with diverse stakeholders
About the Assignment
You will serve as an essential part of Mississippi’s Youth Court reform initiative, helping to streamline intake procedures and improve services for youth and families. Working closely with judges, attorneys, law enforcement, and community partners, you will support the statewide effort to promote consistency, accountability, and quality in juvenile justice operations. The role involves in-person reporting at designated court locations, occasional travel across counties, and participation in onboarding and ongoing training.
